In my small town I as a coffee lover and lucky to have both a Starbucks and a local coffee shop. Though both have their good qualities they both have their negatives
Starting off with the local coffee shop in my town and I know that this is not a problem everyone has and I’m just picky is the lighting. When I’m going for a cup of coffee and wanting to do work on my laptop I want to feel cozy and not like I’m going to have a headache. In my local coffee shop they have very large windows that shine through and bright white lights that hang over. Also all the walls are painted bright white. I know that it might just be me but its just not something that makes me want to stay their and enjoy my coffee. It makes me want to leave as soon as I can to somewhere I can focus on my work better. This leads me to choosing Starbucks a lot of times over my local coffee shop.
Lighting and atmosphere is something that I don’t really have to worry about with my local Starbucks. Starbucks does a nice job of having a good mixture of warm lights and colors. I don’t feel like I have to leave as soon as I get my coffee, just that I can relax almost as if I was home.
One thing that my local coffee shop will always have over Starbucks and I’m assuming this is the case for most is that they make a far better cup of coffee. Also for the most part the owners and even usually the workers are very passionate about their job and coffee making the experience very enjoyable. Not only is the coffee usually far better but also the pastries. The downside to all of this would be that the local coffee shop is usually more expensive than a Starbucks coffee. Though Starbucks coffee isn’t as good as a local coffee shop does its the better option when on a budget.
Getting Starbucks is also a bit more practical with the drive through when you don’t want to get out of your car. Unless of course it’s when everyone else is going to work or on their lunch.
Another thing that I usually find easier at Starbucks is their menu. At my local coffee shop its more so just the flavors and types of coffees they make but its also hard to tell them what you want. At Starbucks they already show complicated drinks with a name on their menu. You don’t really have to ask any menu questions or do much thinking.
This was more so a rant and I’ll probably add more onto this with more research when I feel like it but that’s it for now.
